Welcome Message
Dear Residents, Families, and Friends,
It’s hard to believe how quickly time is flying – we are already in July!
You may be aware that the new Aged Care Act and the strengthened Aged Care Standards, originally planned to commence on 1 July 2025, have now been postponed to 1 November 2025. This additional time allows providers to prepare for the changes and ensure smooth implementation.
One of these important initiatives is the Monthly Care Statement. This is a written statement provided to residents and their representatives each month, summarising:
- The care the resident has accessed
- Any changes to the resident’s health or care needs
- Other relevant events from the month
We are currently collecting the necessary data for July 2025, and our first care statements will be ready to send out during the first week of August.
July has been a busy and joyful month here at Garden View. We celebrated NAIDOC Week, enjoyed an outing to the Guildford Community Centre to take part in the Christmas in July event, welcomed our regular pet therapy sessions, savoured a BBQ in the park, and gathered for our weekly coffee shop/high tea, along with many other activities.
As respiratory outbreaks are affecting many workplaces at present, we continue to take precautions. Visitors with a negative RAT test and no flu-like symptoms are welcome. Mask-wearing is recommended where possible, and we encourage visits to take place outdoors or in well-ventilated areas, away from other residents.

Monthly Care Statements – These will be issued in the first week of each month, summarising the care accessed, changes in health or care needs, and other relevant events from the previous month.
Welcome Our Onsite Pharmacist – We are pleased to welcome Alice Tseng, who will regularly review medications to reduce medication-related harm and optimise medicine use.

Staff Spotlight

Ongoing Staff Training and Education
At our service, resident safety and quality care are always our top priorities. We are pleased to share some updates on recent staff training and competencies that have been completed to further strengthen the care we provide.
To enhance emergency preparedness, we have introduced the LifeVac anti-choking device in our dining areas. All staff have completed training to use this device safely and effectively, ensuring rapid response in the unlikely event of a choking emergency.
Our team continues to use the Ausmed online training platform to keep their knowledge current. Staff have completed a range of updated learning modules covering best practice in aged care.
Infection prevention and control is vital to protect the health of our residents. Staff recently underwent competency assessments in infection control, including correct use of hand hygiene and personal protective equipment (PPE). This ensures we maintain the highest standards of safety within our home.
