July 2025
Welcome Message
Dear Residents, Families, and Friends,
It’s hard to believe how quickly time is flying – we are already in July!

You may be aware that the new Aged Care Act and the strengthened Aged Care Standards, originally planned to commence on 1 July 2025, have now been postponed to 1 November 2025. This additional time allows providers to prepare for the changes and ensure smooth implementation.
One of these important initiatives is the Monthly Care Statement. This is a written statement provided to residents and their representatives each month, summarising:
- The care the resident has accessed
- Any changes to the resident’s health or care needs
- Other relevant events from the month
We are currently collecting the necessary data for July 2025, and our first care statements will be ready to send out during the first week of August.
July has been a busy and joyful month here at Garden View. We celebrated NAIDOC Week, enjoyed an outing to the Guildford Community Centre to take part in the Christmas in July event, welcomed our regular pet therapy sessions, savoured a BBQ in the park, and gathered for our weekly coffee shop/high tea, along with many other activities.
As respiratory outbreaks are affecting many workplaces at present, we continue to take precautions. Visitors with a negative RAT test and no flu-like symptoms are welcome. Mask-wearing is recommended where possible, and we encourage visits to take place outdoors or in well-ventilated areas, away from other residents.
Thank you for your ongoing cooperation, kindness, and support in keeping our community safe and vibrant.
Warm regards,
Nicole Zhang
Director of Nursing

Staff Spotlight
Introducing Alice Tseng – Our On-Site Pharmacist
We are pleased to share that our Residential Aged Care Home is participating in the Australian Government’s Aged Care On-site Pharmacist (ACOP) Measure.
From now on, Alice, our on-site pharmacist, will be working with us one day each week.
Alice will support our residents, families, carers, and staff by:
*Helping ensure medicines are safe and effective
*Working with doctors and health professionals to improve care
*Providing advice and education on medication use
*Supporting safe medication practices and reviews
We look forward to working with Alice to further enhance resident-centred care and wellbeing.

Ongoing Staff Training and Education
At our service, resident safety and quality care are always our top priorities. We are pleased to share some updates on recent staff training and competencies that have been completed to further strengthen the care we provide.
To enhance emergency preparedness, we have introduced the LifeVac anti-choking device in our dining areas. All staff have completed training to use this device safely and effectively, ensuring rapid response in the unlikely event of a choking emergency.
Our team continues to use the Ausmed online training platform to keep their knowledge current. Staff have completed a range of updated learning modules covering best practice in aged care.
Infection prevention and control is vital to protect the health of our residents. Staff recently underwent competency assessments in infection control, including correct use of hand hygiene and personal protective equipment (PPE). This ensures we maintain the highest standards of safety within our home.
Lifestyle and Wellbeing
July at Gardenview was full of warmth, joy, and special moments, bringing residents together even during the winter chill. Each day began with morning exercise, where smiles, laughter, and gentle movements kept everyone active and refreshed.
A highlight of the month was NAIDOC Week, when residents celebrated Aboriginal culture through a delicious BBQ, dot painting, and listening to meaningful stories. These activities created a sense of connection and respect for Australia’s First Nations traditions.
Residents also enjoyed discovering the Burmese fast day, learning about culture and sharing reflections together. Thursdays continued to be a favourite, with our Coffee Shop and High Tea offering a cosy space for friends to gather and enjoy sweet treats.
On the weekends, we were delighted by the visits of two volunteer teams, who filled our home with music, laughter, and joyful performances. Their energy and kindness brought extra cheer to residents’ weekends.
The festive spirit shone when we joined the Guildford Community Centre for a lively Christmas in July party. Our monthly theme, Winter Wonderland Down Under, added sparkle to activities throughout the home.
July is also the month of many birthdays at Gardenview. Each celebration was filled with cake, love, and happiness, making residents feel truly special.
