New Aged Care Act & Strengthened Standards

The new Aged Care Act 2024 and Strengthened Quality Standards will take effect on 1 November 2025.
At Garden View, we are well-prepared across key areas including governance, workforce conduct, food and dining, quality indicators, and financial management. These changes will help us continue delivering safe, high-quality care for our residents.

We’ll celebrate this important milestone with residents and staff in early November.

October Highlights

This month we enjoyed the Moon Festival, Burmese Lighting Festival, and our daily exercise programs.
We’re looking forward to the Bondi Bus Trip on 31 October and celebrating the Melbourne Cup on 4 November!

Important Update

New Aged Care Act & Strengthened Standards

The new Aged Care Act 2024 and Strengthened Quality Standards will take effect on 1 November 2025.

Understanding Palliative Care at Garden View

Palliative care is a special type of care that focuses on improving the quality of life for residents living with serious or life-limiting illnesses. The goal is to ensure that every resident receives comfort, dignity, and compassionate support, rather than focusing only on medical treatment.

At Garden View, our palliative care approach aims to keep residents as pain-free and comfortable as possible while supporting their emotional, spiritual, and physical wellbeing. Our team works closely with families to ensure that care is personalised and respectful of each resident’s wishes.

We also provide family stay options for loved ones who wish to be close during this time and can arrange referrals to the GREAT Team for specialised palliative support when required.

Information brochures about our palliative care services are available at reception. Please speak with our Clinical Team if you would like to know more or discuss how we can support you or your loved one.

Staff Spotlight

Nora, Finance & HR Manager

This month, we’re delighted to shine the spotlight on Nora, our dedicated Finance and HR Manager. Nora joined the Garden View team in March 2024, and since then, she has become an invaluable part of our workplace.

With over 20 years of experience in accounting across various sectors — including education, construction, and aged care — Nora brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our team.

Her professionalism, attention to detail, and friendly nature have made a big difference in keeping everything running smoothly. Nora is always approachable and ready to lend a helping hand, ensuring our residents and staff feel supported and valued.

Thank you, Nora, for your hard work, kindness, and commitment to the team! 🌼

Ongoing Staff Training and Education

At our service, resident safety and quality care are always our top priorities. We are pleased to share some updates on recent staff training and competencies that have been completed to further strengthen the care we provide.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing

🌸 A Month of Culture and Sunshine 🌸

October was filled with celebration, colour, and sunshine at Garden View! Residents enjoyed the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, watching a lively cultural performance and tasting traditional mooncakes. The Burmese Lighting Festival followed, where everyone joined in offering food and sharing blessings — a time of reflection, giving, and joy.

With daylight saving beginning, spring invited everyone outdoors. Residents enjoyed BBQs and picnics in the park, walking under warm sunshine and playing bocce ball surrounded by laughter.

Our regular Catholic Mass provided peaceful moments of prayer and spiritual comfort. Meanwhile, the Rock Rewind Performance filled the lounge with classic tunes, singing, and dancing — bringing smiles to every face.

A highlight of the month was our bus trip to Bondi Beach. Residents admired the sparkling ocean, felt the sea breeze, and shared a delicious picnic while watching surfers ride the waves.

October was truly a month of warmth, togetherness, and happiness.
